What is Inspiration and why is it important to our Spiritual WorkIn our previous article we mentioned how Egos interfered with our spiritual work, now it makes sense to discuss what assists us on our path. A lot has been mentioned over the years about inspiration, and it is a favourite subject of Spiritual guides and Light workers, because we know when we experience it, it is often instant, powerful and most importantly, uplifting. To be in a permanently inspired state with life is probably becoming one of the most sought after states of mind that Humanity is searching for. Even those not embarking on a spiritual path are attracted to anything new or novel, because it suggests a break from monotony, the norms and anything stale or humdrum. Marketeers know this, which is why they constantly bombard us with new products and services through witty, shocking or bizarre advertising campaigns. Now Humanity is wising up to this abuse of the faculty of Inspiration and is asking itself, "what do I really want from life, how do I find lasting happiness?" and many questions like it. As usual the answer lies in the mind and the consciousness. Inspiration occurs in the mental plane or our mental body, and to those of you familiar with the Kabbalistic tree of life, at the Sephirah Netzach (Victory). There are many beings of light that assist this process, but at this point the main ones are known as Principalities and Elohim, (people who work with Angels will be familiar with their characteristics). So how does inspiration help your spiritual path? Quite simply it nourishes your Essence or consciousness in a given moment and helps it to wake up! When the consciousness wakes up, we connect with our Divine Internal Being and we no longer are driven by ego states of mind like resentment, guilt, fear, and anger etc... That connection allows us to be creative in all senses of the word, solve problems and move our lives forward. Sometimes this state of consciousness can happen spontaneously, if we happen to be already connected with our Being or we can work towards it with the correct use of certain mantras and prayers to Beings of light. If we ask for their help and stay conscious enough to notice when they do help us and in what way, we will gradually build a permanent relationship with them and start to understand how they work. This connection to the will of the Divine, rather than the will of our egos, is what helps people to become Gnostic mystics and develop the faculty of true Mysticism. Gnostic Mysticism is direct experience/knowledge of the Divine and to achieve it and MAINTAIN it, you make constant efforts by working to remove what hinders the connection (the Egos) and cultivate what amplifies the connection (the Inspiration). If you use the garden analogy, the garden is your psyche, the vegetable seed your spiritual work, the weeds are your egos and the Inspiration is the compost or organic fertiliser. The tools are practises like Meditation, vocalisations, prayers and mantras and the work against the egos, and you or the consciousness - is the Gardener who has to manage it all! For those that love nature and feel a sense of peace and harmony watching sunsets, the waves crashing on the shoreline and the passing of clouds in a turquoise sky ...that too, is inspiration at work. © Gnostic Cultural Association S.A.W. 2006 |
